La fin d’une époque : le Colisée Pepsi sera démoli, mais son héritage demeure

La Ville de Québec a tranché : l’ancien Colisée Pepsi, qui a autrefois vibré aux exploits des Nordiques et accueilli d’innombrables événements marquants, sera bientôt démoli. Après plusieurs années d’incertitude sur son avenir, l’administration municipale a conclu que la restauration du bâtiment était irréalisable et que la démolition était la seule option viable.

Un lieu chargé d’histoire

Construit en 1949 sous les plans de l’architecte moderniste Robert Blatter, le Colisée de Québec a connu une transformation majeure en 1980, lorsque les Nordiques ont intégré la Ligue nationale de hockey. Son enceinte a été le théâtre de moments inoubliables : la première victoire des Nordiques en séries éliminatoires, les exploits de joueurs légendaires comme Michel Goulet et Peter Stastny, ainsi que des concerts marquants d’artistes internationaux. Son dernier événement fut un concert de Metallica en septembre 2015, fermant ainsi définitivement un livre rempli de souvenirs pour plusieurs générations de Québécois.

Une mémoire à préserver : un musée du hockey à Québec

Avec la disparition imminente du Colisée, il est essentiel de préserver son héritage et de commémorer les grands moments qui s’y sont déroulés. Une idée émergente serait d’aménager, sur le site d’ExpoCité, un musée du hockey québécois, qui inclurait un Temple de la renommée du hockey à Québec.

Ce musée pourrait retracer l’histoire des Nordiques, présenter des artefacts emblématiques, et offrir des expériences immersives, comme des simulations de matchs historiques et des expositions interactives sur les légendes du hockey québécois. Il pourrait aussi mettre en valeur le rôle de Québec dans le développement du hockey au Canada, de la Ligue senior du Québec aux succès récents des joueurs québécois en NHL.

Une transformation du site

L’ancien domicile des Nordiques est inutilisé depuis 2015, date à laquelle le Centre Vidéotron a pris la relève comme principal amphithéâtre de la ville. Depuis, l’avenir du bâtiment faisait l’objet de nombreuses spéculations. Finalement, l’administration du maire Bruno Marchand a décidé d’aller de l’avant avec la démolition du Colisée et le remplacement du site par un projet mixte, comprenant notamment des logements. Toutefois, intégrer un musée du hockey à ce projet permettrait de préserver une partie de l’âme du Colisée tout en modernisant le secteur.

« Je pense que, plus on attend, plus les coûts vont augmenter. Ça fait 15 ans que le sort du Colisée est en suspens. On a fait un bon tour de roue, plusieurs consultations de la population, des experts… Je pense qu’on doit trancher », a déclaré Mélissa Coulombe-Leduc, responsable du dossier au comité exécutif de la Ville de Québec.

Si la démolition avait été estimée à environ 20 millions de dollars en 2020, la Ville s’attend à une facture plus élevée en raison de l’inflation. Le chantier de démolition pourrait s’étendre sur une période de deux ans, bien que la date officielle du début des travaux ne soit pas encore annoncée.

Christian Dvorak out for the season

27 years old forward had a knee surgery on Wednesday.

Today, Kent Hughes announced that forward Christian Dvorak had an operation for his knee in New York ((Hospital for Special Surgery) and that he his going to miss the reminder of the season.

The 27-year-old forward tallied 10 goals and added 18 assists in 64 games this season. Dvorak recorded his 200th NHL point on February 12 against the Edmonton Oilers.

After losing their 6th game in a row Saturday against the New Jersey Devils, the Canadiens (26-34-6) will try to defeat the former Stanley cup champions, the Colorado Avalanche (36-22-6) on Monday at Bell Center.

As you guys may know, he sent the Canadiens to the championship final in 2021. He also did the same thing for his new team in 2022!

I’m convinced that the Avalanche will win this one. They are an absolute wagon train and I cannot see a world where the Canadiens can upset them. Saturday, the Montreal Canadiens (26-33-6) will try to end a 5 game losing streak against the New Jersey Devils (42-16-6) at Bell Center. Montreal lost against the Rangers 4-3 in shoutout on Thursday. They played very well but Patrick Kane had another plan for them finishing the game with his first goal and assist with his new team.

It will be interesting to see if Belzile is going to extend his 3 game goal streak. The fourth line of the Habs absolutely crushed the Rangers at five-on-five. Jake Allen is announced to be the Habs’ starting goaltender.

New Jersey

The Devils won 3-2 in shoutout against the Capitals on Thursday. It’s the newly acquired Timo Meier who scored the game winning goal. The young phenom Dawson Mercer stretched his point streak to 11 games. He is playing on a very high level recently. He had his 22nd goal of the campaign and a power-play assist in this contest. Akira Schmid is announced to be the Devils’ starting goaltender.

My prediction

I’m convinced that the Devils will win this one. Following this, my prediction would be: 4-2 Devils. Hishier with a goal and an assist! I would like to see RHP scores for Montreal. Enjoy the game guys!

60 goals for Connor Bedard!

If there is something that everybody can predict in the future is for sure, that Bedard will go 1st overall in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. The real question is who will be selected after him… The reason why it’s that obvious is because of one simple thing: Connor Bedard is a hell of a player! Last night, Regina Pats’ phenom notched his 60th goal in just 49 games this season. It is the first time in 24 years that this milestone has been achieved.

Bedard is now at 60 goals and 64 assists for 124 points in 49 games, just unbelievable! His career totals now sit at 123 goals and 129 assists for 252 points in 117 career WHL regular season games. Everyone knows he will be good, but how good will he be? Those questions that only time is enough to answer…
